Hi. I’m Heather.
I’ve written for a few different blogs now, and whenever I come to the “about me” section, I feel a bit like Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit, introducing himself to Smaug the dragon in a somewhat ambiguous, somewhat tongue-in-cheek way, and obviously very delighted with his own sense of wit and humor.
I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led. And through the air, I am he that walks unseen.
I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly. I was chosen for the lucky number.
I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water. I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me.
I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ringwinner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider.β
I’m not quite a barrel rider—at least, not yet. But I do attempt to find adventure wherever I go in life–and that adventure finds us currently living in France.
But more importantly, I find beauty, truth, and goodness.
And that’s what this space is all about—a battle cry that (no matter what the headlines tell us) beauty is still running rampant around us. We may need a microscope or a shift in our perspective. But it’s all around.
Some tiny bits about me: I’m a wife, mom, home educator, and missionary. However, I’ve intentionally chosen not to post many anecdotes about my children here, to protect their privacy. I enjoy cooking, baking, all manner of household crafts, gardening, and reading.
